ABSTRACT

Este estudo visou a entender como foi a inserção e a manutenção, em clubes brasileiros de futebol, de treinadores que não foram jogadores profissionais. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com três treinadores, analisadas via Análise Temática, que possibilitou a emersão de cinco temas: influência da universidade na formação dos treinadores; formação continuada dos treinadores; dificuldade dos acadêmicos em se inserirem em clubes de futebol; como os acadêmicos se tornaram treinadores; sugestões para aqueles que almejam ser treinadores e não são ex-atletas. Conclui-se que não há um caminho único e melhor a ser seguido, mas há cada vez mais espaço para a inserção do treinador que não foi jogador profissional de futebol nos clubes brasileiros.


This study aimed to understand how was the insertion and maintenance, in Brazilian soccer clubs, of coaches who were not professional players. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with three coaches, analyzed through Thematic Analysis, which allowed the emergence of five themes: the influence of the university on the training of coaches; continuing training of coaches; difficulty of academics in joining soccer clubs; how academics became coaches; suggestions for those who aspire to be coaches and are not ex-athletes. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender cómo fue la inserción y el mantenimiento, en los clubes de fútbol brasileños, de entrenadores que no eran jugadores profesionales. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas con tres entrenadores, analizadas a través del Análisis Temático, lo que permitió el surgimiento de cinco temas: la influencia de la universidad en la formación de entrenadores; formación continua de entrenadores; dificultad de los académicos para unirse a clubes de fútbol; cómo los académicos se convirtieron en entrenadores; sugerencias para los que aspiran a ser entrenadores y no son ex deportistas. Se concluye que no hay un único y mejor camino a seguir, pero que cada vez hay más espacio para la inserción del entrenador que no fue futbolista profesional, en los clubes brasileños.

@#Introduction: Previous medication adherence studies primarily focused on the domains of non-adherence in hypertension treatment and less attention has been given on domains that encourage adherence to anti-hypertensive medications. The current study is aimed to identify the domains of adherence and non-adherence to anti-hypertensive medications among hypertensive patients in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Methods: Hypertensive patients from two public health clinics in Kuala Lumpur were invited for in-depth interviews until thematic saturation. Audio recordings from these interviews were transcribed verbatim. Transcripts were then analysed deductively with the guidance of the World Health Organization Medication Adherence Framework to extract the domains of adherence and non-adherence to anti-hypertensive medications. Results: Ten patients who were predominantly Malays and aged 34-73 years old participated the study. Patient-related (encompassing knowledge, attitude, belief and culture, lifestyle, personal barriers, self-efficacy, and cue to action), socioeconomic (encompassing social support), condition-related (encompassing nature of illness and presence of multiple co-morbidities), therapy-related (encompassing experience of receiving treatment, barrier in treatment, and side effects of treatment), and healthcare system (encompassing access to healthcare and healthcare center experience) domains were identified as central to the medication-taking behaviour of hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Sixteen codes of adherence and 22 codes of non-adherence to anti-hypertensive medications were identified, which were distributed across five domains (patient-related, socioeconomic, condition-related, therapy related, and healthcare system domains). These findings can help to inform future development of medication adherence questionnaires, individualised interventions for patients with adherence problems, and targeted health promotion programmes to reduce uncontrolled hypertension.

ABSTRACT

Apesar das crescentes investigações sobre uso de telas na infância, essa é uma temática complexa e ainda recente, que traz diversos desafios para pesquisadores e cuidadores. Comunidades virtuais em redes sociais são utilizadas por mães e pais para esclarecer dúvidas e receber conselhos acerca da parentalidade e saúde infantil, podendo, simultaneamente, assumir uma função prescritiva e normativa quanto ao seu modo de agir. Sendo assim, este artigo pretende compreender como o uso de telas na infância vem sendo abordado por especialistas em grupos de mães e pais no Facebook. Foi realizado um estudo qualitativo envolvendo 49 postagens de especialistas, sobretudo psicólogos e educadores, extraídas de cinco grupos públicos de mães e pais nessa rede social. Os textos das publicações foram verificados por meio de análise temática e discutidos com base no referencial teórico psicanalítico. Os resultados mostraram que os especialistas destacam os possíveis prejuízos do uso de telas na infância, além de fornecer orientações aos pais sobre como lidar com sua presença no cotidiano das crianças e de suas famílias. Concluiu-se que apesar dos grupos de cuidadores no Facebook serem uma ferramenta de divulgação de informações acerca do uso de telas na infância, cabe não naturalizar a presença de especialistas nesses espaços virtuais criados por pais e mães, interpondo-se nos saberes e nas trocas horizontalizadas entre os cuidadores.(AU)


Although investigations on the use of screens in childhood are increasing, this is a complex and recent topic, which poses several challenges for researchers and caregivers. Virtual communities in social networks are used by mothers and fathers to clarify doubts and receive advice regarding parenting and child health, at times, simultaneously, assuming a prescriptive and normative role on their way of acting. Therefore, this study aimed to understand how the use of screens in childhood has been approached by experts in groups of mothers and fathers on Facebook. A qualitative study was carried out involving 49 posts from specialists, mainly psychologists and educators, extracted from five public groups of mothers and fathers in this social network. The publications' texts were verified via thematic analysis and discussed based on the psychoanalytical theoretical framework. The results showed that experts highlight the possible damage of the use of screens in childhood, in addition to providing guidance to parents on how to deal with the presence of digital technology in the daily lives of children and families. It was concluded that, although caregivers' groups on Facebook are a tool for disseminating information about the use of screens in childhood, it is important not to naturalize the presence of specialists in these virtual spaces created by fathers and mothers, interposing in the horizontally interchanges that occur between the caregivers.(AU)


A pesar de las crecientes investigaciones sobre el uso de pantallas en la infancia, este es un tema complejo y aún reciente, que plantea varios desafíos para investigadores y cuidadores. Las comunidades virtuales en las redes sociales son utilizadas por madres y padres para aclarar dudas y recibir consejos sobre educación y salud infantil, pudiendo, al mismo tiempo, asumir un rol prescriptivo y normativo sobre su forma de actuar. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender cómo el uso de las pantallas en la infancia ha sido abordado por especialistas en grupos de madres y padres en Facebook. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo a partir de 49 publicaciones de especialistas, principalmente de psicólogos y educadores, extraídas de cinco grupos públicos de madres y padres en esta red social. Se realizó en los textos de las publicaciones un análisis temático y se utilizó el marco teórico psicoanalítico. Los resultados mostraron que los expertos destacan posibles daños que provoca el uso de pantallas en la infancia, además de orientar a los padres sobre cómo afrontar esta presencia de la tecnología digital en el día a día de los niños y sus familias. Se concluyó que, a pesar de que los grupos de cuidadores en Facebook son una herramienta de difusión de información sobre el uso de pantallas en la infancia, es importante no naturalizar la presencia de especialistas en estos espacios virtuales creados por padres y madres que se interpone entre los saberes e intercambios horizontales de los cuidadores.(AU)

ABSTRACT

A política pública, enquanto exercício do poder público para resolver problemas da sociedade, é passível de aproximações para entendimento sobre seu funcionamento. Este trabalho faz esse exercício ao analisar as percepções dos profissionais atuantes em política municipal para atendimento a pessoas em situação de acumulação, de município da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba/PR. Para a construção da pesquisa qualitativa, de tipo exploratório-descritiva, utilizou-se entrevistas com profissionais do serviço municipal, após, o conteúdo foi analisado pela análise categorial temática. O transtorno de acumulação, caracterizado pela dificuldade em desfazer-se de objetos, tem como manifestação especial o acúmulo de animais e implica em sofrimentos para a própria pessoa e a coletividade. O Comitê Municipal para atendimento a essa situação é multiprofissional, viabilizando tratamento em saúde, assistência aos animais, orientações de cunho sanitário e demais intervenções pertinentes. A partir desse panorama geral, apreendeu-se que a multiprofissionalidade é imprescindível para o serviço, ao invés da concentração apenas na psicologia e psiquiatria. A evolução terapêutica do paciente é gradual e envolve reincidências, assim, as expectativas dos profissionais em relação aos casos atendidos, idealmente, precisa levar em conta a especificidade da condição de sofrimento do paciente, e prever alternativas àquelas que prescrevem a supressão dos sintomas apenas, como a perspectiva da redução de danos. Public policy, as a means of the government's authority to solve society's problems, is passive of approaches for understanding how it functions. This dissertation intends to do as such, by analyzing the perceptions of professionals working with municipal policy to assist people living nearby Curitiba--PR city that struggles with Hoarding Disorder. To build the repertory for an exploratory-descriptive type of qualitative research, interviews with municipal service workers were collected, then, the content was analyzed using thematic analysis. Hoarding Disorder, distinguished by the difficulty in getting rid of acquired objects, has as special manifestation the acumulation of animals, and entails suffering for itself and the community. The Municipal Committee created to address this issue is multi-professional, enabling access to health care, animal care, sanitary guidelines, and other relevant interventions. From this survey, it was possible to understand that the multi-professional nature of the Committee is essential in this field, instead of concentrating only psychiatric and psychology professionals for the task. The patient's therapeutic evolution is gradual and involves recidivisms, therefore, the professionals' expectations regarding each case needs to, preferably, consider the specificity of the patient's suffering condition, and foresee alternatives that solely prescribe the suppression of symptoms, such as harm reduction. La política pública, como ejercicio del poder público para resolver problemas de la sociedad, es posible de aproximaciones para entendimiento de su funcionamiento. Este trabajo haz ese ejercicio al analizar las percepciones de los profesionales actuantes en la política municipal de atendimiento a personas en situación de acumulación, del municipio de la Región Metropoli-tana de Curitiba/PR. Para la construcción de la pesquisa cualitativa, de tipo exploratorio-descriptiva, usamos entrevistas con profesionales del servicio municipal, después, el contenido fue analizado por el análisis temática. El trastorno de acumulación, caracterizado por la dificultad en deshacerse de objetos, tiene como manifestación especial la acumulación de animales, e implica en sufrimientos para la persona y la colectividad. El Comité Municipal para atendimiento a esa situación es multiprofesional, posibilitando trata-miento en salud, asistencia a los animales, orientaciones sanitarias y demás intervenciones pertinentes. A partir de ese panorama general, comprenderse que la multiprofesionalidad es imprescindible para el servicio, en lugar de apenas contratación de psicología y psiquiatría. La evolución terapéutica del paciente es gradual y muchas veces con recurrencias, así, las expectativas de los profesionales en relación con los casos atendidos, idealmente, necesita llevar en cuenta la especificidad de la condición del sufrimiento del paciente, y promover alternativas a aquellas que prescriban el desaparecimiento de los síntomas solamente, tal como la perspectiva reducción de los danos. ABSTRACT

This study aimed to explore ethical dilemmas and challenges faced by young mental healthcare researchers and professionals working with survivors of suicide (hereinafter suicide survivors). Two focus group discussions (FGDs) Researcher FGD (with those engaged in suicide research) and Clinician FGD (with those providing treatment to suicide survivors) – consisting of open-ended questions and lasting for 70-90 minutes were conducted and analysed using Thematic Analysis. Five themes were identified: i) struggling with the incongruity of harm within benefit, ii) difficulty in delineating boundaries, iii) self-doubt in one’s professional competence, iv) nature of suicide straining the limits of confidentiality, and v) working with structural limitations. The study helps to understand the obstacles and dilemmas encountered in adhering to ethical principles while working with vulnerable individuals.

ABSTRACT

Resumo A pandemia de Covid-19 impactou as formas de interação em diversos contextos sociais. Qual terá sido o seu impacto sobre os regimes de guarda e convivência dos(as) filhos(as) de pais/mães separados(as)? Este estudo qualitativo-exploratório investigou, por meio de uma análise temática, como 119 pais e mães separados(as) perceberam esse impacto durante a primeira onda da pandemia em 2020. Observaram-se alterações nas dinâmicas de comunicação e inter-relação coparentais. Os resultados também indicam que a capacidade dos pais e mães separados(as) para se adaptarem às limitações da pandemia e suas consequências estiveram bastante ligadas às dinâmicas de funcionamento coparental preexistentes à pandemia. Além disso, observou-se também que os principais impactos (i.e., na convivência e cuidados com os(as) filhos(as) parecem ter afetado mais as mães do que os pais.


Abstract The pandemic has impacted the ways in which people interact. Which impacts the pandemic might have brought about in regards to child custody and contacts arrangements? Through a thematic analysis, this qualitative and exploratory study investigated how 119 separated parents perceived this impact. Results address the impacts of the pandemic on child custody and contacts arrangements, especially regarding coparental communication. They also outline that the separated parents' ability to adapt themselves to the pandemic restrictions, and their consequences. This ability was very linked to pre-existing coparental dynamics. Also, this paper discusses how the main impacts (i.e., maintaining contacts and caring for children) seemed to impact mothers more than fathers.

Resumen La Distrofia Muscular de Duchenne (DMD) es una enfermedad neuromuscular, clasificada como una enfermedad huérfana o rara, transmitida por la madre, y que conlleva al deterioro físico progresivo y fatal de quienes la desarrollan, que en su mayoría son hombres. Aun con los tratamientos farmacológicos disponibles, el pronóstico de vida de los pacientes sigue siendo desalentador. Los niños van perdiendo progresivamente la movilidad y funcionalidad hasta que fallecen. En consecuencia, el progreso de esta enfermedad requiere de cuidados frecuentes o permanentes que implican altos niveles de exigencia para las cuidadoras de niños y de jóvenes que han desarrollado la DMD. El apoyo proveniente del sistema de salud es escaso para ambos, lo que se traduce en una intensa sobrecarga para las madres y mujeres de la familia que son quienes, habitualmente, cuidan a la persona diagnosticada con DMD durante su vida. Este estudio cualitativo de tipo fenomenológico tuvo como objetivos analizar el significado de la experiencia de ser cuidadora de niños y jóvenes que viven con DMD en Colombia, develando el sentido que tiene para las mujeres familiares asumir el rol de cuidadora. Se entrevistaron siete mujeres entre los 25 y los 64 años encargadas de cuidar, por lo menos, a un niño o joven con diagnóstico de DMD, previo consentimiento informado. Adicionalmente, los cuidadores desarrollaron un ejercicio de asociaciones libres. Para el análisis de datos se realizó un análisis temático de las narrativas, encontrando tres temas fundamentales alrededor de los cuales se le da sentido a esta experiencia: (1) descubrir la enfermedad, (2) vivir en función del paciente y (3) reconstruir el sentido de vida. Así, en un momento inicial las cuidadoras se enfrentan al diagnóstico de la enfermedad brindado por los médicos, quienes les explican su curso y su naturaleza. La cuidadora inicia un proceso de duelo, en el que la tristeza, la negación y la resignación tienen lugar, y emociones como la frustración y la impotencia se presentan en su máxima expresión. La manera en la que es comunicado el diagnóstico es evaluada por las cuidadoras como poco sensible. De hecho, ninguna de las participantes en el estudio recibió apoyo psicológico durante el proceso. En segundo lugar, ser la figura de cuidado implicó cambios a nivel personal, familiar y social, para lograr responder a las necesidades de los niños con DMD. En este sentido, algunas debieron renunciar a sus empleos, alejarse de amistades e incluso algunas manifestaron que se han separado de su pareja o han vivido experiencias de deterioro en las relaciones con su pareja y familia extensa. Además, junto con sus hijos han vivenciado experiencias de discriminación, vulneración de derechos y escaso apoyo social, experiencias que son factores de riesgo para la salud mental. Finalmente, la enfermedad termina por constituirse en el elemento vinculante entre ellas y sus niños. Los hallazgos de la presente investigación permiten identificar que, en el proceso de enfermedad, se produce una reconstrucción del sentido de vida. Así, las estrategias de afrontamiento se dirigen a lograr una transformación espiritual. La presencia de la enfermedad es interpretada como una manera de ser probadas y desarrollar sus cualidades como mujer y como madre. Entonces, el cuidado y la relación madre-hijo, son componentes motivacionales que transforman y dan sentido a la vida. En conclusión, los resultados muestran que el significado de la DMD está fuertemente vinculado a un proceso de intenso sufrimiento y estrés psicológico, con alta carga negativa. En particular, durante los primeros años después del diagnóstico, que debe ser asimilado y elaborado para aprender a convivir con la DMD y la certeza de la muerte prematura de un hijo.


Abstract Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a neuromuscular disease that leads to progressive and fatal physical deterioration. The progression of this disease requires frequent or permanent care that implies high levels of demand for the caregivers of children who have developed DMD. Certainly, this disease affects diagnosed children and their caregivers as well. The support from the health system is scarce for both, which translates into an intense burden for the mothers and women of the family who care the person diagnosed with DMD during their lifetime. This qualitative study with phenomenological approach aimed to analyze the meaning of the experience of being a caregiver for boys and young men living with DMD in Colombia. After obtaining their informed consent, caregivers were interviewed and a thematic analysis of their narratives was performed to determine three key topics that endow their experiences with meaning: (1) finding out about the disease, (2) living according to the needs of boys and young men, and (3) providing a new meaning to life. The results show that the meaning of DMD is strongly associated with intense suffering and psychological stress, with a high negative burden, especially during the initial years after diagnosis. The study suggests that it is important to assimilate and process these experiences and findings to learn how to live with DMD and identify the certainty of a child's premature death.

En las últimas décadas, han aumentado los estudios sobre las competencias para el ejercicio de profesiones de la salud. En psicología y en particular, en la psicoterapia, se han elaborado diferentes escritos que detallan las competencias que deben adquirir los y las psicoterapeutas durante su formación. Sin embargo, no se encuentran estudios sistemáticos que detallen las actividades y experiencias asociadas a su desarrollo, denominadas en este trabajo como indicadores asociados. Con el objetivo de conocer cuáles son las actividades y experiencias asociadas al desarrollo de competencias clínicas, se realizaron 20 entrevistas semi-dirigidas que fueron sometidas a un análisis temático en el que complementariamente participaron expertos, quienes actuaron como jueces en diferentes etapas del proceso. Como resultado, se identificaron cinco indicadores asociados: i. Formación de base y actualización, ii. Desarrollo personal y trabajo sobre sí mismo, iii. Pertenencia a instituciones y red de profesionales, iv. Supervisión y v. Experiencia personal y profesional.


In recent decades, studies on the competencies for the exercise of health professions have increased. In psychology, particularly for psychotherapy, various writings have been produced detailing the competencies that psychotherapists must acquire during their training. However, no systematic studies are detailing the activities and experiences associated with their development, in this work called Associated Indicators. In order to know the activities and experiences associated with the development of clinical competencies, 20 semi-structured interviews were carried out subjected to a thematic analysis in which experts participated as judges in different stages of the process. As a result, five associated indicators were identified: Basic training and refresher training, personal development and work on oneself, membership of institutions and networks of professionals, supervision and personal and professional experience.

ABSTRACT

Background@#The Universal Health Care (UHC) Act is a landmark legislation that seeks to improve provision of comprehensive health services through the integration of local health systems. The Department of Health (DOH) conducted a series of roundtable discussions to gather stakeholders' inputs and concerns to refine the initial draft of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of UHC. @*Methods@#On April 4, 2019, the Department of Health led a roundtable discussion on the Local Health Systems sections of the UHC IRR in collaboration with University of the Philippines Manila. A total of 65 stakeholders from different sectors participated in a semi-structured roundtable event. The proceedings were audio recorded and transcribed. A thematic analysis was done using NVivo 12 software to document gaps and gray areas identified by the participants. @*Results@#Concerns of the participants revolved around the following: role of the private sector in local health systems; the integration of different municipal and other component health systems into a province-wide health system; organizational design of the health systems; pooling and utilization of the Special Health Fund (SHF). Gaps andgray areas were concentrated on the transfer of personnel and other health resources to the province-wide system, the composition of the Provincial Health Board, and the utilization and management of the SHF. @*Conclusion@#The roundtable event acquired various perspectives from stakeholders that could help the DOH identify priority action points that could be resolved at the agency level. The identified themes from the study analysis could be of value to decision makers to clarify issues, address policy gaps, and to prioritize future research directions.

Mais notável é a referência à análise de conteúdo apropriada a abordagens quantitativas, mas livremente usada em estudos qualitativos. O objetivo deste texto é apresentar a Análise Temática como proposta por Virginia Braun e Victoria Clarke, focalizando em sua aplicação. Descreve-se o que é preciso saber sobre a Análise Temática antes de realizá-la e como conduzi-la em seus seis passos. São apresentados exemplos com dados coletados com amostra brasileira para ilustrar passos cruciais, bem como sete vantagens desse método. O texto encerra com recomendações para editores e pareceristas de periódicos científicos sobre o que priorizar na avaliação de trabalhos que relatam o uso da Análise Temática


There is a diversity of methods to guide qualitative analysis. The beginner researcher still lacks a reference for qualitative data analysis that is sufficiently flexible, fruitful, and coherent to a qualitative approach. Most noticeable is the reference to content analysis suitable for quantitative approaches, but loosely used in qualitative studies. The goal of this paper is to present Thematic Analysis as designed by Virginia Braun and Victoria Clarke, with focus on its use. We describe what is necessary to know about Thematic Analysis before applying it and how to conduct its six steps. The paper provides examples with data collected with a Brazilian sample to illustrate crucial steps, as well as seven advantages for using this method. We finish with recommendations to editors and reviewers from scientific journals on what to prioritize in evaluating papers that used Thematic Analysis

Más notable es la referencia al análisis de contenido apropiado a enfoques cuantitativos, pero libremente utilizados en estudios cualitativos. El objetivo de este texto es presentar el Análisis Temático como propuesto por Virginia Braun y Victoria Clarke, enfocándose en su aplicación. Se describe lo que hay que saber sobre el Análisis Temático antes de realizarlo y cómo conducirlo en sus seis pasos. Se presentan ejemplos con datos recolectados con muestra brasileña para ilustrar pasos cruciales, así como siete ventajas de ese método. ABSTRACT

Abstract The present study aimed at investigating emerging adulthood features in Brazilians from low and high socioeconomic statuses (SESs). The sample was 547 Southern Brazilians; residents in the urban context, between 18 and 29 years old (Md = 22 years; IQR = 7), 64.2% females. From this sample, 13 participants were randomly selected to participate on the qualitative study. Instruments were the Brazilian Version of the Inventory of Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood, a Semi-structured interview, and the variable socioeconomic status (SES) from the Brazilian Adolescence and Youth Questionnaire. Analysis from Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) indicated no associations between SES and IDEA (Inventory of Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood) dimensions. Deductive thematic analysis revealed the presence of emerging adulthood features in Brazil (general Kappa = .83) and that economic disparities affected youth developmental trajectories. High SES individuals were more likely to experience EA features according to what has been observed in industrialized countries. Low SES individuals presented a divergent trend, because their opportunities to live a period of identity exploration would happen after another-focused period. The transition to adulthood considered as a nonlinear process influenced by the socioeconomic context is discussed.


Resumen El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar las características emergentes de la edad adulta en brasileños de estados socioeconómicos (SES) bajos y altos. La muestra fue de 547 brasileños del sur; residentes en el contexto urbano, entre 18 y 29 años (Md = 22 años; IQR = 7), 64.2% mujeres. De esta muestra, 13 participantes fueron seleccionados al azar para participar en el estudio cualitativo. Los instrumentos fueron la versión brasileña del Inventario de dimensiones de la adultez emergente, una entrevista semiestructurada y el estatus socioeconómico variable (SES) del Cuestionario brasileño de adolescentes y jóvenes. El análisis del modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM) no indicó asociaciones entre las dimensiones SES e IDEA (Inventario de Dimensiones de Adultez Emergente; IDEA, Inventory of Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood). El análisis temático deductivo reveló la presencia de características emergentes de la edad adulta en Brasil (general Kappa = .83) y que las disparidades económicas afectaron las trayectorias de desarrollo de los jóvenes. Los individuos con un Nivel Socio-Económico (NSE) más alto tenían más probabilidades de experimentar características Emergentes de la Edad (EA) de acuerdo con lo observado en los países industrializados. Los individuos con bajo NSE presentaron una tendencia divergente, porque sus oportunidades de vivir un período de exploración de identidad ocurrirían después de un período centrado en otro. Se discute la transición a la edad adulta considerada como un proceso no lineal influenciado por el contexto socioeconómico.

ABSTRACT

Background: The current study explored the factors that motivate caregivers to continue providing care totheir family member suffering from dementia. Maximum variation sampling was employed. In depthinterviews were conducted with each caregiver till saturation was reached. A total of five hours of interviewdata was transcribed verbatim and 75 pages of the transcribed data were analyzed using thematic analysis.18 themes were identified under the area of motivating factors.Methodology: The data collection was done through face - to - face in – depth interviews. The sampleincluded was adult female family members of the patient suffering from dementia. They were selectedthrough medical and mental health professionals.Results: Five hours of audio taped data derived from in depth interview with five caregivers was transcribedverbatim. 75 pages were analysed using thematic analysis. Most of the existing research focuses on the stressand health issues caregivers face. Little research exists about what motivates individuals to choose to providelong term care to their deteriorating family members. Seven areas were explored.Conclusion: 18 themes were found under motivating factors. These were maternal instincts, reciprocity,responsibility towards family, lack of assistance, lack of an option, caregiver’s personality, care and love,viewing caregiving as an opportunity to show concern, concern for patient’s safety, patient’s attitude towardsthe caregiver, guilt, viewing the patient as vulnerable, view of oneself, desire for normalcy, identifying withthe patient, personal anxiety, final years and hope

Resumen: 15. El objetivo de este artículo es conocer, a partir de la experiencia de familiares de enfermos con cáncer terminal, la beneficencia del médico hacia el enfermo. Este propósito es parte de un trabajo más amplio titulado "Los cuidados, la atención y la decisión de los enfermos con cáncer terminal al final de la vida: una visión desde la experiencia del familiar". La experiencia de los familiares proporciona información acerca del actuar del médico sobre los riesgos y beneficios de tratamientos o procedimientos. Se llevó a cabo un estudio cualitativo que parte del paradigma hermenéutico fenomenológico, elegido porque permite conocer la percepción que tienen las personas del mundo en el cual viven y el significado que le dan. Se entrevistó a 11 familiares y cuidadores primarios y se utilizó el análisis temático y el método de van Manen. La experiencia de los familiares muestra que algunos médicos, en ocasiones, no actuaron a partir del principio de beneficencia, porque no proporcionaron información detallada, la omitieron o no hubo comunicación, no respetaron las decisiones y no controlaron o eliminaron el malestar o dolor del enfermo. Los médicos deben reconocer y subsanar situaciones en las que no logran cumplir con este principio.


Abstract: 19. The aim of this paper is to learn from the experience of relatives of patients with terminal cancer about the medical beneficence during a terminal illness. This paper is part of a broader study entitled "The care, attention and decision of patients with terminal cancer at the end of life: a vision from the experience of family". The experience of the family provides information about the act from the doctor about the risks and benefits of treatments or procedures. A qualitative study was carried out that part of the phenomenological hermeneutical paradigm. It is approached from the phenomenological stance because it lets you know the perception that people have of the world in which they live and the meaning they give you. 11 family members and primary caregivers, were interviewed. Thematic analysis and the method of van Manen were used. The experience of family shows that some doctors sometimes did not act from principle of beneficence because they did not provide detailed information, omitted or no communication, they did not respect their decisions and not controlled or eliminated the discomfort or pain of the patient. Physicians must recognize and address situations that fail to comply with this principle.


Resumo: 23. O objetivo deste artigo é conhecer, a partir da experiência de familiares de pacientes com câncer terminal, a beneficência do médico ao paciente. Este objetivo faz parte de um trabalho mais amplo intitulado "Os cuidados, a atenção e a decisão de pacientes com câncer terminal no final da vida: uma visão da experiência da família". A experiência dos membros da família fornece informações sobre a atuação do médico sobre os riscos e benefícios de tratamentos ou procedimentos. Um estudo qualitativo foi conduzido partindo do paradigma hermenêutico fenomenológico, escolhido porque este método permite conhecer a percepção que têm as pessoas no mundo em que vivem e o significado que elas o dão. Foram entrevistados 11 familiares e cuidadores primários e foi utilizada a análise temática e o método de van Manen. A experiência dos familiares mostra que alguns médicos em certas ocasiões não agiram a partir do princípio da beneficência, porque não forneceram informações detalhadas, omitiram-na ou não havia nenhuma comunicação, não respeitaram as decisões e não controlaram ou eliminaram o desconforto ou dor do paciente. Os médicos devem reconhecer e corrigir situações que não respeitam este princípio.

ABSTRACT

O presente estudo teve como objetivo descrever os significados da formação presbiteral em seminaristas católicos, considerando-os como gestalten discursivas resultantes de arranjos complexos de elementos de experiência interna, numa perspectiva idiográfica e fenomenal. Compreende-se que o seminário seja uma instituição total, criado a partir do Concílio de Trento e instrumento fundamental da modelagem da subjetividade dos futuros sacerdotes, e a formação presbiteral contempla os aspectos afetivo, intelectual e pastoral, sendo regida por orientações emanadas a partir das leis da Igreja. O foco do estudo recaiu, portanto, na experiência interna de seminaristas, a partir do impacto da formação na vivência dos sujeitos. Participaram do estudo 34 seminaristas (11 de Pernambuco e 23 do Rio Grande do Norte), oriundos dos três períodos do seminário maior (propedêutico, filosofia e teologia), os quais responderam um protocolo fenomenal. A análise do corpus discursivo foi realizada a partir dos pressupostos da análise fenomenal padrão, com apoio na técnica da análise temática. Os resultados anunciaram cinco categorias temáticas: Seminário: lugar de dificuldade/renúncia; Felicidade em ser seminarista; Reconhecimento/discernimento da vocação; Seminário: etapa/lugar de aprendizado; e, Masculinidade/valor. Os achados de pesquisa corroboraram aspectos da vida dos seminaristas anunciados por pesquisas anteriores, e revelaram elementos de tensão na vivência formativa.


The study aimed to describe the meanings of priestly formation in Catholic seminarians, considering them as discursive gestalten resulting from complex arrangements of elements of inner experience, in a phenomenal and idiographic perspective. The seminar is a total institution, created by the Council of Trent, and fundamental instrument of modeling subjectivity of future priests, and priestly formation includes the affective, intellectual and pastoral aspects, being governed by guidelines issued from laws of the Church. The focus of the study fell in the inner experience of seminarians, and in the impact of training on the experience of the subjects. 34 seminarians (11 from Pernambuco and 23 from Rio Grande do Norte) participated in the study, coming from the three periods of the major seminary (Propaedeutic, Philosophy and Theology), who answered a phenomenal protocol. The analysis of the discursive corpus was performed from assumptions of standard phenomenal analysis, with support in the thematic analysis technique. The results announced five thematic categories: Seminar: Place of difficulty/waiver; Happiness at being seminarian; Recognition/discernment of the vocation; Seminar: period/place of learning; and Masculinity/value. The research findings corroborated aspects of life of seminarians announced by previous research, and revealed elements of tension in the formative experience.


El presente estudio tiene como objetivo describir los significados de la formación sacerdotal en seminaristas católicos, teniendo en cuenta como gestalten discursivas el resultado de una compleja disposición de elementos de experiencia interna, desde una perspectiva idiográfica y fenoménica. Se entiende que el seminario es una instituición totalizadora, creada a partir del Concilio de Trento, e instrumento fundamental de modelización de la subjetividad de los futuros sacerdotes, así como la formación sacerdotal contempla los aspectos afectivo, intelectual y pastoral, siendo regida por orientaciones que emanan de las leyes de la Iglesia. El enfoque del estudio recayó, por tanto, en la experiencia interna de seminaristas, a partir del impacto de la formación en la vivencia de los sujetos. Participaron en el estudio 34 seminaristas (11 de Pernambuco y 23 de Río Grande del Norte), oriundos de los tres períodos del seminario superior (propedéutica, filosofía y teología), los cuales responderán a un protocolo fenoménico. El análisis del corpus discursivo se realizó a partir de los presupuestos del análisis fenoménico estándar, con soporte en la técnica del análisis temático. Since fibromyalgia was first conceptualized in 1990, it has been studied in terms of its validity as a diagnosis, its definition as a disease and its treatment. These issues have been addressed within different biomedical and social sciences disciplines, including psychology, psychiatry, anthropology and sociology. La investigación sobre niños/as y jóvenes en programas de acogimiento se centra mayormente en el llamado "Modelo de Déficit" que limita el entendimiento sobre experiencias individuales, fortalezas y capacidades únicas de la población (Sullivan, Jones, & Matiesen, 2010). El presente estudio explora el bienestar emocional de jóvenes emancipados de programas de acogimiento (grupos focales, N=15) usando Teoría Fundamentada (Glaser & Strauss, 1967) y Análisis Temático. Se identificaron cinco factores principales en el bienestar emocional: Adaptación, Recursos, Construcción de Relaciones, Desarrollo de la Salud Mental Positiva, y Resiliencia. El presente estudio extiende el conocimiento sobre factores centrales en el bienestar emocional de jóvenes en acogimiento que han sido escasamente estudiados en la investigación actual, lo que garantiza una mejor atención.


Extant research on youth in welfare systems has concentrated mostly on the so called "Deficit Model" which limits our understanding of the individual experiences, strengths, and capacities that are unique to these youth (Sullivan, Jones, & Matiesen, 2010). The current study explores the emotional wellbeing of a group of youth in the foster care system using Grounded Theory and Thematic Analysis as a methodological base (Focus Groups N=15). Results identified five central factors for emotional wellbeing: adaptation, resources, construction of relationships, development of positive mental health, and resiliency. Results from the current study generate new knowledge on central factors pertaining emotional wellbeing which have only been scarcely examined in the current research on foster youth and which warrant further attention.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES. The study aimed to develop a pre-tested tool through a Filipino patient-based approach that incorporated identified factors associated with patient satisfaction in Tertiary DOH Hospitals in the Philippines.                             METHODS. The study involved two phases. Phase 1 included a qualitative survey on two randomly selected public tertiary hospitals using the eclectic concepts of phenomenology and thematic analysis. This phase was concluded with a construction of a Patient Satisfaction Survey tool. Phase 2 was validation of this tool to four randomly selected public tertiary hospitals.                                                                                                                                                         RESULTS. In Phase 1,104 respondents underwent the qualitative survey in which eight principal patient areas were identified namely: admission process, room, nurses, doctors, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy and discharge process. Categories under each were also identified. Phase 2 revealed that the tool constructed in Phase 1 had an excellent overall internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.96).                                                                               CONCLUSIONS. The product of this research is a validated self-administered Patient Satisfaction Tool which can be given to patients being discharged in tertiary hospitals in the Philippines. The tool may be validated to Level 1 hospitals so that it encompasses all levels of hospitals. Because of policy implications, the tool may be administered every year.

OBJECTIVE: This study sought to investigate suicide notes drawn from Mexico and the United States (US) as these countries share geographical proximity, but markedly different cultures and suicide rates. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A theoretical conceptual analysis of 102 suicide notes drawn from these countries, matched for age and sex, was undertaken based on a thematic model of suicide developed by Leenaars,1,2 across countries. RESULTS: The inter-judge reliability was adequate (.86 coefficient of concordance). CONCLUSIONS: The results suggested that there are more psychological commonalities than differences. Yet, as this study marks the first one using suicide notes, between Mexico and the USA, much greater study is warranted.


OBJETIVO: Este estudio tuvo por objetivo la comparación de notas suicidas (póstumas) de México y de Estados Unidos, países que aunque vecinos geográficos, presentan marcadas diferencias culturales y porcentajes de suicidio. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un análisis conceptual de 102 notas (51 mexicanas, 51 estadunidenses), pareadas por edad y sexo. Se utilizó el Modelo temático de suicidio desarrollado por Leenaars1,2 y que ha sido la base de varios estudios en diversos países. RESULTADOS: La técnica de Análisis de contenido obtuvo un adecuado nivel de concordancia (86%) con el Método de interjueces. CONCLUSIONES: Los resultados informan que existen más semejanzas que diferencias psicológicas entre ambas muestras. El presente es el primer estudio que utiliza notas suicidas entre ambos países.

Object:To describe Chinese systemic family therapy process through analysis on the therapeutic experience of 4 Chinese systemic family therapists.Method:Four well-certificated systemic family therapists in China were selected as research sample.A semi-structure interview under the guidance of a self-compiled interview outline was made with every therapist.Transferred raw data was analyzed with deductive thematic analysis following 5 steps:coding,themes searching,themes reviewing,themes defining and naming,themes merging and revision.Results:(1)Respectively 102,93,97,and 95 codes were got from each piece of interview raw data,which generated 57,52,50,and 33 primary themes.Five main themes emerged from the merging of the primary themes.(2)Themes and sub-themes constructed the theoretical hypothesis on the change process of Chinese systemic family therapy.Conclusion:There is an experiential manipulating model in Chinese systemic family therapy process under the guidance of systemic therapeutic philosophy,which is integrated with some therapeutic technique from other psychotherapy models.This model can be studied with deductive thematic analysis.
